Jean Seberg’s most well-known international character in ‘A Bout de Souffle’ is for many independent women out there to admire. As a free-spirited young American in Paris, Patricia Franchini shouts ‘New York Tribune!’ along Champs Elysees, dates/ sleeps/ holds existentialist conversations with her criminal-on-the-run boyfriend Michel and finds her seductive ways in launching her journalistic career off with certain top people of the NY paper. And in doing so, Patricia’s natural beauty (albeit the occasional impishness she conveys) is further highlighted with the chic Parisienne exterior of her flowy skirts and clutches topped with an American casualness of flats and cigarette pants. Hers is one irregular life that is worth experiencing (in younger days) of any modern women of today.
